Count positions only after spacing is known
For a straight wall run using a maximum on-center interval:
regular positions = ceil(wall length ÷ spacing) + 1
The added position closes the far end of the run. RightQty then replaces the two regular boundary positions with the number of end studs entered for that wall section. Waste rounds the resulting count upward to whole studs.
Worked example
A 16 ft wall at an entered 16 in spacing
Sixteen feet is 192 inches. Dividing by 16 inches gives 12 intervals; including the far-end position gives 13 regular positions. With two entered end studs, the base remains 13. A user-selected 10% allowance rounds the order to 15 studs.
This example has no corners, intersecting walls or openings. Those members must come from the actual framing plan.

Stud species, grade, dimensions, spacing, end/corner details, headers, king and jack studs, cripples, blocking, bracing, plates, loads and connections are design decisions.
